Mitrata Brizian

Since my summer plans this September were quashed by a revolution in Tehran I can only quench my fascination with Iran through photography. This small selection of images were put together by Iranian photographer Mitrata Brizian. Although no doubt staged, there is something fascinating about her images. What I find most interesting about them is that they display Iran in a different manner to that which we see elsewhere. Modern-art and Tehran are far from synonymous. Or at least we think. This is probably not what Mitrata Brizian originally sought to portray. It is however the aspect of the images that I find most challenging.
